Call for posters
Why a poster?
A poster presentation allows you to share information, ideas and your work in adult literacy and numeracy at the conference without needing to do a workshop or presentation.
If you have some information to share about your teaching, your research, or your other adult literacy & numeracy work but you don’t want to run a conference session this is an ideal way for you to share your ideas.
For example, your poster might share your ideas about good practice when working with First Nations learners, in the SEE program, in adult literacy, in adult numeracy, with literacy or numeracy learners who are also English language learners or who are early school leavers.
You might use the poster to highlight your research, trauma informed approaches, your use of authentic materials and learning experiences or any other adult LN related themes!
The poster presentation
Your poster will be a visual and/or written presentation of your information. You will create the poster and print it out on A3 paper and bring it to the conference where it will be displayed.
You can also add another printed page (A4 or smaller) with your bio and an explanation of the poster, such as some background information.
There will be an optional opportunity to take part in a poster Q&A session if you would like to talk about the poster. If you opt to take part in the Q&A more information will be supplied.
There will also be a chance for delegates at the conference to vote for their favourite poster, with a modest prize for the winner.

The Australian Council for Adult Literacy is calling for papers and presentations for ‘Inclusion, empowerment, employment: Literacies for a dynamic future’ over the one and a half conference days, 4 and 5 September 2025.
The Australian Council for Adult Literacy has been advocating for adult literacy since it was formed in 1976. This year ACAL celebrates 49 years of active promotion of literacy and numeracy provision, teaching practices, research and engagement in consultations related to the development of adult literacy policy. The conference title provides a framework to reflect and focus on these collective concerns through the ideas of pedagogy, policy and practice in inclusive and enabling spaces that both welcome adult learners and open new pathways for their consideration.
