The information in this resource is based on research funded through the Adult Literacy Research Program (ALRP). The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) managed this research program on behalf of the former Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (now Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)). The ALRP was funded from 2002 until 2006.
ACARA
ACARA is the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority. It is the independent authority responsible for the development of a national curriculum, a national assessment program and a national data collection and reporting program that supports 21st century learning for all Australian students.
ACARA’s work is carried out in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including teachers, principals, governments, State and Territory education authorities, professional education associations, community groups and the general public.

NIACE – National Institute for Adult and Community Education
The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) aims to encourage all adults to engage in learning of all kinds. NIACE ia a charity, a company limited by guarantee and a member-led, non-governmental organisation. Its membership base is made up of individual and corporate members, who range from universities, colleges and local authorities to the BBC, the National Federation of Women's Institutes, the Trades Union Congress and the Ministry of Defence.
RaPAL – Research and Practice in Adult Literacy

We are an independent network of learners, teachers, managers and researchers in adult basic education. RaPAL was established in 1985 and is supported by membership subscription only.
