Come prepared!

The phrase ‘four seasons in one day’ was made for Melbourne. In fact it was the theme of the 2004 ACAL Melbourne conference.

Here’s the 2004 logo and we even had a ‘Conference’ song courtesy of Crowded House’.

‘Apricity’ my new weather word

My new word is very appropriate for Melbourne in September.

Apricity (n.): the warmth of the sun in winter.

A strange and lovely word. The OED does not give any citation for its use except for Henry Cockeram’s 1623 English Dictionarie.

When you are out of the wind, in mid-afternoon, with a glass of something in your hand and your back to the Sun, you experience apricity.
