All major airlines service Darwin, often offering great specials.
To and from the airport
Shuttle bus $12 one way; approx 15 minutes plus pick up/drop off times
Taxis will charge about $25 to $30 for a airport to CBD trip
The Ghan
Some people have already indicated they'll be coming the long way! The Ghan (named after the early cameleers) travels between Adelaide and Darwin.
Local travel
Once you're in Darwin there's a good public transport network. A $2 adult fare entitles passengers to unlimited bus travel for three (3) hours on any scheduled public bus service in Darwin and Alice Springs. (I'll be passing that on to some of the transport authorities in the other states!)
Bus Route 4 takes you from the city centre to the University.
