Charles Sturt University logoCharles Sturt University (CSU) offers a range of courses targeted at individuals either working in, or who wish to work in, adult language, literacy and numeracy teaching areas. The focus is on adult LLN provision  within the vocational education and training (VET) and adult and community education (ACE) sectors, but the approach taken is relevant to other adult learning as well – for example in-service and work-based learning contexts.

Because of the diverse nature of adult LLN practice, CSU offers electivity in its programs allowing students to choose subjects which focus on language, literacy or numeracy or a combination of these.  The emphasis is on contemporary theory, issues and arguments, together with policies and frameworks, and their application as relevant to the field.  These programs are offered fully online, providing students with flexibility of place, time and pace.

For undergraduates, the Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education (BAVE) meets the ASQA requirements for the higher level qualification for the purposes of Registered Training Organisation (RTO) compliance for teachers/trainers. BAVE meets the VTA requirements for purposes of their MEA (pay and employment levels).  CSU also provides LLN subject offerings at graduate level too. The graduate programs allow for the inclusion of TESOL subjects as electives.

Education courses have been reduced from just over $800.00 a subject to $492.00 per subject, for Commonwealth supported places. See the Commonwealth fees page for CSU.
